I don't know if anyone had already posted this:

I was thinking about letting my child do some work for me when I start my practice (since its cheaper than actually purchasing the game operation) but now I'm having second thoughts.
The dentist was very irresponsible. They both deserve the punishment. I dont know what the heck they were thinking! 😡

I wonder what it must feel like to have your teeth drilled out without any anesthetic.

Were you drunk at the time? getting your teeth worked on by another drunk buddy? 😀

Heh no, I don't need any anesthesia when I have my teeth drilled 😀.

By chance, did you have them done in the 1800's in Slovakia?

you dont need to go back that much. Still to this date drilling teeth w/o anesthesia happens in a lot of the developing countries. I survived, so do everyone else, but not a very pleasant experience.

If the dentist goes slow and uses a hand piece that also shoots out water to cool the tooth, it's not that bad. The pain usually comes from the heat as the drill creates friction and heats up the tooth.

In Russia I had all my cavities filled and teeth pulled without anesthesia. In fact I had my tonsils removed without anesthesia. Some might consider it torture, but that was a way of life there. Part of the reason we moved to US.

guess we can relate in that matter. do you also remember the dentist not wearing any gloves and handling the amalgam on his bare palm?

Whats the big deal? Until the late 80s/early 90s when AIDS started getting lots of press, very few dentists wore gloves at all. There are still plenty of old dentists out there who never put on a pair of gloves for the first 20 years that they were in practice.

if you really dont think thats a huge deal 😱 , then dentistry, or any other health care career for that matter, may not be for you!

culinary career too.

why do people here always say "...then dentistry may not be for you"

you ask for advise on personal statement and get "...then dentistry may not be for you"

you apply in October and get "...then dentistry may not be for you"

don't get an interview from Harvard and get "...then dentistry may not be for you"

express any fear or weakness and get "...then dentistry may not be for you"

hmmmm....?

for my only cavity, i was drilled with no anesthesia either. it was a small cavity and composite was used, so it wasnt that much drilling

well some of them are just telling you what others won't cuz they are too nice and maybe some of them are just jerks who want to put you down whatever chance they get, which is a form of trolling.

however, if you dont think hygiene in healthcare setting isn't a "big deal", dentistry may not be for you.

I was responding to a comment about a dentist who wasn't using gloves and "touched amalgam with his bare hands" and i was merely making the point that this wasn't all that shocking and as far as i know, your patients do not drop dead on contact if you don't have a latex glove on. Not wearing gloves is nowhere near the level of letting some random person with no training drill peoples teeth. And yes, wearing gloves has become necessary in this day and age, but there was a time not too long ago when it was considered out of the ordinary to wear gloves during procedures....that's all I'm saying. And in the future, chill with the personal attacks. Just because I brought up how things used to be done doesn't mean I'll make a bad dentist. In fact, since you have no idea who I am or what I am capable of, I think that in the future you should probably refrain from passing judgement on my career choice.

That isn't so bad, right? 😎 Once you get used to it, you don't need anesthesia anymore. Why using chemicals if you don't have to? 😉

whoa whoa. i wasnt passing any judgement nor attacking anyone im merely making a point which i believe is very important. dont go psycho on me. all im saying is, if you dont think hygiene in healthcare setting isn't a "big deal", dentistry may not be for you. if you think not wearing gloves as a health professional is not a "big deal" because of how it was back in the days, then denstistry may not be for you.

did you also know bathing and washing yourself was considered harmful to your body not couple centuries ago?
