I have posed the same question to my academic advisors. I have been told by several people "not" I repeat, "not" to wear a red tie whatever the case. The red tie is allegedly a sign of power; moreover, when one is interviewed exemplification of inferiority is a happenstance implied. Good luck with the interviews, and share your good or bad news at SDN.

I see most presidents usually wear red tie.

Superstition. I wore a red tie. My favorite. Your advisors are... silly.

If you will be judged based upon your appearance I would not sugggest attending that school. It really will not matter if you wear a red or yellow tie. You must just dress in professional attire. I personally dressed very conservately wearing a navy 2 button suit, white shirt with a navy and yellow tie.

Do not worry about the tie.

I have a rich, luxurious burgundy tie. Wore it, like it, think it makes me the most powerful human being in the world! No school can deny me when I wear my red tie! It is not the only tie I own, but it is the best one. Sometimes, when there is imminent danger in the nearby vicinity, I put on that red beauty in preparation to move a train from its tracks, or to remove a car from its stranglehold on an unfortunate victim. That way I have POWER. POWER to save the world!

(forgive me, lost in a daydream....)
