In the MSAR, the following stats are avail.

applicants: 7,439
Interviewed: 1446
Accepted: 250

Post-interview, does anyone know approx what percent get offered an acceptance? Is it 1/6? 1/4?

Any help would be appreciated...I am very interested in this school and have to schedule an interview!

During my interview there they said that only 33% get accepted after getting interviewed, its double the number of what the class should be.

I think it also depends on whether you interview early or late. I interviewed in early October. Had I interviewed later, I don't think I would have been accepted right off the bat.

I wonder if the percent accepted includes the number of people they accept off the waitlist.

For example, 600 people are interviewed. Of those people, 200 are accepted outright, 300 are waitlisted, and 100 are rejected.

Now, suppose that 100 people turn down the acceptances. They still need to get a 100 more to fill the class. They might have to accept 220 people off the waitlist to get 100 more students.

So, the total number accepted is 420, which is 70 percent of 600.

Sum and substance of my spiel is that the % accepted may not be an accurate measurement of the probability for an outright post-interview acceptance.

I also have an interview coming up at Drexel and am looking forward to attending. It looks like most of the reviews on the MDapplicants website are positive. Why does everyone consider Drexel such a back-up school? I assume if you were to attend and did well in classes, there would be no problem landing a surgery or other specialty spot. Plus, isn't Drexel in the nicer part of Philly compared to Temple? Is it true that you can watch lecture on-line and download all the notes so there is no need to attend class? Are the tests taken on-line as well?

Yes. Huge plus of Drexel is that the whole campus is wireless. However, that was only one of the things about the school that I was impressed about. I liked it. I still don't understand why its reputation is a little bit shady.

in state seems like they def have an advantage...
228/256 that interview eventually get in. thats almost 90%.

During my interview in november, the #'s they gave us indicated that about 65% of those students who interview get in eventually (either straigh out or off the waitlist).

actually the numbers are 228/286...closer to 80%. still really good odds though!

I don't feel so bad tho. Still, I don't understand why I got rejected from them post-interview. My interviewer even gave me the tour of the ER.

Yup, goes to show you - NOTHING Makes sense in the med school admissions process.

ouch - don't worry Kashue, youhave acceptances at other places anyway I think. Maybe Drexel is just accepting fewer students next year because they lost their biggest teaching hospital and have no where to send their students. It would seem weird though to just cut back on the number of students though.

you know how much of a crapshoot this whole thing is. try not to let it get you down. i know, easier said than done. just remember the fact that you got an interview at all says something great about your application.

Yea, thankfully I do. My interview went extremely well - my interviewer was from the same city as me. I don't get it.

out-of-state. Heh, btw they mentioned that in the rejection letter: "the extension of an invitation to appea for personal interviews is an accomplishment in itself and we are please that you availed yourself of the opportunity." Anyone know if I can find out why I was rejected post interview? or should I not care?
