was wondering if anyone(female) was interested in sharing a hotel room for the january 5th thursday interview?
has anybody had luck with the student host program?
and do you need to rent a car in philly...?

thanks.

You don't need to rent a car in Philly. If you're flying in either catch a cab or the train to Center City. Then catch the Drexel bus near the undergrad dorms. This info should be on the Drexel Med interview section on their website. If not, call and ask the admissions office. Philly's public transport is relatively good. I didn't even get lost when I was there last year.

thanks uegis.
i went to philly for a wedding recently and had to rent a car, so was wondering. is it easy enough to catch a cab in philly like nyc? or do you have to call one in advance? if the public transportation system is as convenient as u say, i will rely on it. the admissions office is not answering my calls...i guess i'll try again monday.

I would recommend staying with a student host. I was there last Sunday night (11/6) and my host rocked. I just kept emailing everyone on the list until someone responded. And to second cHocoBo 118, the Septa train is the way to go. From the 30th St. station you can take R8 to the Queen Lane stop, which is a block from the school, for $3.00. I found their public transportation to be extremely easy and cheap.

You can actually take the train from the airport directly to the med school. Thats what I did, only had to switch trains 1 time and only took about 30 min, costing $7. Here are the directions from the Drexel website:

Take the R1 train from the airport to 30th Street Station. Use your R1 ticket to transfer to the R8 Chestnut Hill West train. Get off at the Queen Lane station. Cross Wissahickon Avenue and walk up Queen Lane (a halfblock west) to the campus on the left side of the street.

Definitely dont take a cab, It will be cheaper to just rent a car. Philly is notorious for its high cab fares. Hope this helps
