I am a first year at duke, was waitlisted last year, along with about 6-7 other classmates.
Definitely send a letter of intent.
Make the letter stand out, I sent a picture of myself with it.
You can do a search here to find some good ideas on what to say, i bascially restated why i loved their school, even after going to other interviews, and compared it to the schools (without naming names) that accepted me. So I basically said, your program is unique and fits me because now that I have seen other schools, i know that your program , blah blah blah
But definitely write it soon. I was accepted 2 days after the May 15th deadline, so you could hear back early, if you act now
