I just received the following e-mail from the Medical College of Virginia.
Well, at last, we are beginning our process for 2001-2002!!!!
Seriously, there are still major issues to be resolved in how we are
going to manage this year's process but I felt it was best to keep you
posted as to our small steps forward. We have received about 500
applications from AMCAS in "hard copy"; these are xerox copies of the
material that we should begin to receive electronically in a few
weeks. We have decided to use our system from last year and manually
add additional data as necessary until the AMCAS system is fully
operational. This means that a few of you will begin to receive
e-mail from us authorizing you to complete the supplemental form
online (URL will be provided via email after your application is
received). Once your supplemental is complete, we will gradually
begin to do file reviews and start to schedule interviews. We
anticipate that we will not have anyone ready for interview, except
Early Decision candidates, prior to the last week in September.
WE WILL COMMUNICATE WITH YOU BY E-MAIL. There will be no snail mail
correspondence on your status or on interview dates. Therefore it's
absolutely essential that you keep your email address updated with
AMCAS.
Please keep in mind that the process will be slow, and there is
potential for error in this hybrid system. We plan to do everything in
our power to be certain that your candidacy suffers no ill
consequences because of system issues. Thank you for your continued
patience and we look forward to working with you.
