Early Decision question?

If you apply to a school early decision, are you really not allowed to submit amcas to the other schools untill you hear the decision from this particular school, or are you just to withdraw applications from other schools once you're admitted ed?

you cannot check any other schools to send your amcas app to. not until Oct. 1st (15th?) when your EDP school accepts/rejects you. raw deal ...
