Despite how you feel about Loma Linda's religious affiliation, I don't think it's appropriate to make fun of other people's beliefs. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable going to school there, but I'm not going to knock the school. I'm sure the majority of students that go there are fine with the rules and can understand why they are in place.

Oh, and since I know nothing about the Sabbath and why shrimp are evil, i googled it and came across this site.

thats a funny site. But dont let a few crazies give you the wrong impression. Being kosher and not eating seafood/pork/anything killed differently than Jewish laws were created thousands of years ago for the primary reason of health. Lots of diseases came from these animals (back than due to unsanitary means of preparing such foods, just as circumcision is a healthier and more clean way of life).

Ok then. Where do the majority of good punk bands come from...SoCal. And no, there aren't any better cities on the east coast better than California. Nice try though.

Have you been to the east coast?? New York..Boston..way better cities with so much more to do in than anywhere in cali...except for san fran. Plus I think people in east coast are smarter than cali.....cali has so many airheads and *******es..and why is everyone so greedy???
But persoanlly I think Europe is way better than America, people actually enjoy life poor or rich...Europeans work to live, whereas Americans live to work.....big difference

On the contrary, Europeans work for the taxman. The English pay 40% income tax and the Swedes pay 60% income tax. I imagine other European countries are similar. Damn those socialists and their freedom fries.

Yes, but these countries have a much higher standard of living than we do. They also believe that (you may want to have small children leave the room for this one) everyone has a right to free healthcare!

And this makes shoveling snow more appealing how?

Besides, it rains in California. It's not everyday that we get sunny weather in the low 80s with the coldest temperatures being in the mid 50's. We only get good weather 80% of the time :D

Hard work builds character. Hasn't your Grandpa ever told you that?!

Have you ever tried shoveling snow? It has a Zen quality to it. The cold wind on your face as the clouds tumble above your head. The monochrome whiteness of the landscape. The only sound is the scraping of the shovel and your breathing. Your mind is focused and is lulled into an almost hypnotic trance by the rhythm of the shovel until there is only you and the whiteness.

I'm tellin' ya man, it's beautiful

Dang, that does make snow shoveling sound appealing. Airvent, do you have sales experience? You'd be great at it.

I researched the crime rate - Baltimore is about 7th worst in the nation, however, San Bernadino was worse, as was Richmond Va. (another school I was considering)

san bernardino has worst crime than baltimore?? in the US??? so its ranked like 6th or 5th? are you serious?

Yea...I love snow too. Must be why I bought a snowboard last winter. I'm a bit too lazy to shovel though. I only have the energy to go cow-tipping. By the way, it's silly to think that earthquakes should scare anyone from living in California. There are much worse things like tornados, snowstorms, and hurricanes that Cali just doesn't get.

Yeah, if I'm remembering it right. I can't remember the source but I just put "worst cities" in a google search and was surprised that many of the cities I'd interviewed at were in the bottom 20. As somebody mentioned earlier, though, the run-down slums of San Bernadino aren't anywhere near LLU so I'm not worried about it. My relatives in Rancho Cucamonga told me that in the suburbs east of LA you can drive about 10 minutes and be in a totally different environment.

My bad, it's ranked 16th and Baltimore was what, 11th? That's still pretty bad. I started another thread about it.

san bernardino is very close to loma linda. lol look at a map

yeah I know, but I don't think i'd really have any reason to be wandering around in the rough areas of San Bernadino, esp. if I lived in Redlands or colton or somewhere like that. I think mostly the city of LL is pretty safe.
