Can any of you previous applicants comment on any school secondaries that were very easy to fill out without any long essays? I work like an animal and do not have anytime to write long essays. Thanks.

Unfortunately some of the easy secondaries are the most expensive ones. BU and Finch want $100 checks and a photo, but no essays.

UCSF just asks you to sign your name, send a pic, and $50 bucks (if you don't apply as disadvantaged). It was great! 😀

what about the JMP?

Separate essay questions section for that, sorry exmike.

Jefferson and Tufts just wanted to know if you have any close relatives that are alums (and of course they want another $100).

Cincinnati has an online secondary where you simply cut and paste your AMCAS essays. Nice and tidy.

They supposedly have no secondary essays.

Also, I know that IU (Indiana University) has a secondary with no essays. It's hard to get in our of state there though.

They just want a check and photo?!? That surprises me!

Anyone know exactly what they want? Thanks!

I can't remember exactly, but I think you just tick a box that says yes you told them the truth and yes you understand their rules on students requiring special accomodations (ie if you are deaf or whatever)...and thats about it. As I said I don't remember exactly but it literally was fill in your credit card # here and thanks. Took 5 minutes if that.

as an aside. if you limit yourself to only schools with essentially no essays for the secondary you will be severly limiting yourself....many of them have standard essays that can be somewhat reused anyway. Maybe you should ask what schools had hard/many essays as ones to avoid (pitt, pritzker, UCLA, UCSD, Stanford are ones that jump to mind in that category...infact we had multiple threads about the Pitt ethical essay last year 😉 )

Harvard's takes like 5 min. Just fill out a couple pieces of info, check a few boxes like tbw said and give them your credit card number. Its all online too so its even easier than a place like Finch where you have to write out a check and toss it in an envelope and pay for postage.

anyone know anything about the wayne state, MSU, Upstate, Virginia Commonwealth secondaries...thanks

I'm a little concerned that you're choosing which schools to apply to based on the length of their secondaries. Even many of the schools with the "harder" secondaries share similar questions, so that once you complete two or three secondaries, you can actually almost cut and paste answers for the remainder that come in. For example, Pitt, UCLA, UChicago, and Loyola all had versions of the "describe an ethical dilemma that you have faced" (suggestion don't write about an academic ethics situation--then you can apply your dilemma for all schools).

But to answer your initial question, I'll add New York Medical College to the list. I think their secondary fee was $125 (ouch!).

Drexel - just write in two alternative careers if you couldn't do medicine.
Rochester - money and a picture.
Arizona - automatic interview, but only if you're a resident.

Both wayne and MSU have considerable 2ndaries. I say considerable, b/c although not as bad as say, Pritzker's, there are like 3 essays each, i believe. (pm for specifics)

Easy 2ndaries i had were:
SLU ($100)
Temple
Penn State
Finch

I think secondaries with lots of essays are better. More essays mean more opportunity to sell yourself to the school. Makes you more than an mcat score and gpa.

UPenn just asks for 60 bucks...online app too very easy

Duke, in my opinion, was the worst secondary i had ever had to complete

UMaryland sucked too (paper app, had to find a typewriter to answer a whole buncha stupid questions like whats the difference between and job and a profession)

somebody should make a list... any volunteers? 😉

the easy ones I remember:
nymc
gw
drexel
mcw

sunflower79 🙂

thanks a lot for the suggestions...I understand your opinion that the length of secondaries should not be an issue but I am just being realistic...I work close to 80 hours a week and don't have time to write huge essays...just a reality....thanks
