I've read many posts that discuss the pros and cons of a medical school in regards to the debt obtained and the expected or average salaries of physicians. It would be interesting to know what the average income of users on SDN looks like. For those who are independent use your household income and for those who a dependent use your parent's income.

I'll start: Independent: ~80,000/yr

I have never filed a tax report. I have no debt and I don't plan on having any until I buy my first house.

This totally makes up for spending 9 years in Vietnam and sleeping on the floor in a one-bedroom apt with 4 ppl until 11th grade.

Independent. I just started a new job so I currently make only about $21k/yr (and I'm $26k in debt due to undergrad)...:/

This is very interesting. Especially having just read a bit of the Prestige + Fit vs $$$$ Thread... which really is hard to follow considering all the bickering going on in there.

Fortunately, they pay for my tuition fees.
I dont know how much they make, but they are more than willing to support me financially through medical school.

Dependent for now but independent for med school. >100,000 now, later....<0.

Although I should probably edit that by saying that my parents are supporting two kids through college and we live in an expensive city...

If I decide to work as a nurse after I graduate in May I'll be starting out at $22.65/hour. Plus 3 dollars more for weekends and 3 dollars more if I work nights. If I decide to forgo my position as a nurse and start making my pre-reqs I'll be in at the mercy of Uncle Sam for the next 10 years! Big decision to make

Lol well less than 0 because technically I will be living off of money thats not mine and accruing interest on it. I mean, I live off of money thats not technically mine now but my parents aren't charging me interest either..

I live almost purely off of financial aid. I make a one or two hundred from tutoring every month, but otherwise it's the 16500 I get in grants and 4000 I got in loans to cover the rest of my projected expenses. Leaves me about 11000 dollars for the 9 months of school, which isn't too bad. It's a little tougher when you have previous debt and no way to pay it off while you're in school though.

Independent: $32,000 (full-time research at med school)

But after graduating May 09 worked making $10.35/hr during application cycle (and living on my own) and acquired some unfortunate cc debt for the first time in my life. I've always worked but got laid off from my well-paying job right before graduation and it was the best I could find!

Hoping to pay that crap off soon. I have no undergraduate debt from good scholarships and living at home.

I'm one stuck in the middle class section of parents making just enough to not qualify for aid, although, they weren't exactly in the position to just pay all my expenses.
