How good is the reputation of Albert Einstein - Montefiore? For example, how does it compare to programs like Univ. of Maryland, Univ. of Virginia?

Don't know how it is c ompared to those, but I do know the program. It's got a strong rep in NY, and produces many good docs. Pretty good fellowship opportunities; they do well. It's a very busy Bronx hospital, and you should know what it's like in a Bronx hospital. The general rep around NY is that the residents get worked real hard.

I think Albert Einstein-Montefiore does have a reputation for being malignant. The residents work really hard yet come out as excellent clinicians. They are probably not in the same category as Columbia, NYU or Mount Sinai amongst the NY programs.

As compared to U Maryland, Montefiore is probably at least comparable if not better than UMD. UMD's program is supposedly somewhat cush. UVA is probably a step above Montefiore and UMD in terms of reputation.

It also depends on location. If you want to eventually practice medicine in NY, then Montefiore will be your best bet. If you want to live in Maryland, go to Maryland, etc...
