EM job market in NY

I was speaking to a newly graduated EM resident who seemed to think that the New York City job market for EM will be getting really tight within the next 5 years, given all the residents pumped into this market. Suppose I wish to stay in NYC is it worth pursuing an EM residency in 2 years and possibly ending up in a terrible EM market dowturn?
P.S. I will have a peds categorical residency under my belt before doing EM, I am not sure if this is a plus.

I dont think there will be too many EM docs, the truth is there are tons of docs who are retiring. In addition, the population of NYC and the surrounding areas is immense. So even if you cant work in NYC the surrounding areas will have plenty of need.
