I was wondering if anyone has personal experience or friends with experience on the types of job opportunities available with a sports med fellowship.

Does anyone know how people have integrated EM and sports med? Or what EM folks have done in general with their specialized training? This includes beyond being a team doc at any level.

thanks for your help!

I heard someone sum up what they learned in a year of sport's medicine fellowship..."ice it."

We have a sports fellowship here at the U of A. One of the fellows is about to graduate and will work a few shifts in the ED and run a clinic 1-2 days per week, and then go to games and practice as per whatever the deal was.

Thats how you integrate it...

I also know a guy who did a SM fellowship and now he does medical direction for big athletic events on the side (triathalons and the like).

Don't get me wrong, this is a hobby not a job -- he still pulls plenty of shifts.
