Emerging Areas of Research in Neurosurgery

Hello! I'm an incoming M1 and I'm doing a research on the neurosurgery sub-specialty for a paper.

My task is to come up with current topics in neurosurgical research. I've located one that I think is applicable, which is deep brain stimulation (DBS).

Does anyone know of any other current research that might apply? The criteria is just "current topics in neurosurgical research"; however, the more generally accessible the topic, the better.
