Hi...so there are still a few schools out there that I have yet to hear from. I am assuming that if I havent been invited by now, it's not gonna happen. Oh well, I can deal with that.

So, why is it though, that after taking between 50-100 dollars of my hard earned money these schools cant send me a form letter to "officially" reject me. I mean, what could they be possibly be waiting for?!?!

Ah, the joys of applying to med school.

I share your frustration. I went into this process thinking I would get at least a few interviews, despite not doing so hot on the MCAT. Instead, I've gotten around 20 rejections, 1 interview invite, and have not heard from Drexel, St. Louis, or Mt. Sinai. I've given up on Mt. Sinai, but it's hard to give up on the other two, since I thought I had a shot at getting interviews there. I wish they would just send me the rejections already. I was very impressed with Georgetown. My application was complete and a week later I got a rejection. There was none of this waiting around bs. I just want to call up the other three and inquire as to the status of my rejection letter. 😡

Some places do not send out rejections until they have officially completed all interviews (usually a formality just to make sure that they don't want to invite anyone else).

There are a handful of schools that will extend the interview process if they had a delay throughout the year, but most places finish everything up by the end of April. So basically, there is still hope, but not much.

If you are planning on reapplying, I would recommend calling the admissions office at the schools where you were rejected and asking what you can do to improve your application. Then get your application in early for next year.

Good luck!
