Can someone explain to me why hormonal contraceptives are protective against endometrial cancer? OCP have estrogen right? so how is that protective against cancer?

Also why does high dose progestins used for endometrial carcinoma?

It is unopposed stimulation of the endometrium by estrogen that leads to cancer. The addition of progestins in combined OCPs opposes the effect of estrogen and reduces the risk.

Treatment of endometrial cancer is surgery +/- chemoradiation. High dose progestins may slow down bleeding, but it is not a treatment.

Please correct me. Does prolonged estrogen exposure (early menarche, late menopause, no kids) increase the risk for endometrial, ovarian and (is it breast too?) cancer.

OCP if taken decrease the risk of endometrial and ovarian, but increase the risk of breast cancer.. Is this true or Am i just making this up?

OCP and cancer incidence:
Breast: Conflicting data
Cervical Cancer: Increased
Ovarian: Decreased
Endometrial: Decreased

Increases the risk of VTE. Also, if patient smokes and is over 35, increased risk of death from CV disease.
