Are Environmental science courses classified as BCPM gpa courses? theres alot of science and math involved in these courses.

Generally no, however, if it was an ecology course in the environmental science department then yes.

You can't just tell the person no without knowing which course they are trying to classify because AMCAS clearly states that the classification should not be based on the department offering to course but rather the content of the course. Many schools offer ecology and environmental microbiology courses in the Environmental Science department which should be classified as biology and included in the BCPM GPA.

Computer Science counts towards your BCPM? What? o_o

i put all my env science classes as "natural sciences". the amcas manual is pretty detailed in how to categorize the classes.

Who's this in response to? I a little confused.

According to AMCAS rules compsci falls under the category of COMP.

Don't worry about the categories too much. You can try to game the system by categorizing stuff as BCPM or categorizing it as something else to raise or lower your BCPM gpa. Obviously you don't want to blatantly list something as it's not but if it's not clear you can list it as whichever benefits you the most.

If AMCAS disagrees with your categorization, they'll just change it. I guess technically your app might be delayed a little but it's not a big deal really.

Yeah, that's right. It doesn't count unless its a bio-related course. I had a "comp-sci" course which was really just bioinformatics as it pertains to genetics and proteomics, so it was BCMP.
