I was wondering what the equivalents were for medical professionals in India.

In the US, we do four years of undergrad, then four years of med school and then residency for about 2 years and then if you want you can do a fellowship.

thanks,

In india, getting into medschool is after higher secondary school education. High school is from 5th grade to 10th grade. Higher secondary is 11th and 12th grade. You dont have to go for undergraduate college education india before medschool. This saves 4 years. Most of indian kids become doctors even at age of 22. Some prefer to complete three years undergrad college and then go to medschool. It is not mandatory.

Medschool is four and half years followed by 1 year internship.
Post grad medical education (= to residency) is 3 years.
If you need superspecialization ( = to fellowship) is 2 or 3 years.

FYI..there is no 2 years residency programs in the US as far as i know.
