2) NRMP- for foreign medical grads, is our ECFMG status updated (i.e. USMLE Step 1, 2 CK and CS) automatically? Are applicants ranked while their certification is still "pending"?

You only need to have completed the steps required to be certified (ie, essentially everything but the final diploma) to be ranked. You are required to have certificate in hand to start residency.
