I have two upcoming interviews--MCP and, I just discovered, NYMC. I want to brush up on current ethical issues in medicine. Can someone please recommend a book? Thank you much.

Here are a few great websites that I use:

<a href="http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/bioethics/archive.index.html" target="_blank">CNN ethics matters</a>

<a href="http://eduserv.hscer.washington.edu/bioethics/topics/index.html" target="_blank">ethics</a>

These two are ones that I am using for a medical ethics class, and quite good:

Ethical Issues in Midern Medicine 5th ed. by John Arras and Bonnie Steinbock
(more medical focus, shorter articles, wide variety)

Bioethics (Oxford readings in philosophy) ed. by John Harris
(More philosophical focus, longer articles, some very famous ones in the field)

here's a good one,

<a href="http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/3040.html" target="_blank">AMA ETHICS </a>

Better than just memorizing what positions you should be on, it presents that kinds of pertinent considerations that go into issues of ethics.

For my interviews I read Practical Ethics by Peter Singer and Slouching Towards Gomorrah by Robert H. Bork.

Really? You read Bork's book? Any thoughts? I tend to think of him as something of a nut case, but I suspect his books are pretty interesting.

Castaway....I interviewed at NYMC and got no Ethical questions (which doesn't mean you won't, but no one really did in my group). The interviews there are blind, so in that case they usually want to get to know more about you.

Hope this helps for whatever it is worth
