Can any fellows or GI attendings comment on any objective measures that are used to evaluate GI fellows competence in different procedures and the best way to look about getting constructive feedback to help work on areas of weakness. I know its likely program specific but I still wander if there are validated tools to assess or at the very least, track, procedural competency.

Best feedback is always done in person, in real-time. All other feedback is more of an evaluation for others and less constructive.

Yes, the direct observational polypectomy skills (DOPyS) tool is a widely used formal evaluation using objective criteria for competence is one example, ADR and cecal intubation rates another

But is it...”widely” used? We don’t use it at our hospital
