...... I think the first sentence of genesis is interesting because it says "in the beginning there was the word." What or when was the beginning, and what was before that? Or was "the word" always there, and there was no other way to put it into words. It's enough to make your head hurt. I don't think it really matters if you believe that God created everything, if it all came from nothing, or if it just always existed, as long as you keep an open mind and consider the merits of all possibilies. ......
