I liked the EK books, especially physics and biology. I thought their physics was conceptual and well written. The orgo was okay but chemsitry was weak. Their verbal method is good for their passages, but I didn't think it helped as much on real MCAT passages. What I didn't like were the passages and short answer explanations.
I liked that BR answer explanations explained the concepts and how to work through to the correct answer. I found most of their passages to be on the mark, especially in chemistry, orgo, and physics. Their physics and chemistry text is very good. Their new orgo text is the best of the ones I used. I think their Bio text could use some work (too long winded in certain chapters). What makes their materials strong are all the passages and the test logic they incorporate into the explanations.
Both materials are useful, but if you are only going to buy one, I'd probably recommend BR. You get more passages with them and that's really what you need.
