Hi all, I'm thinking of doing a few weeks of OMFS externship at Memphis or Knoxville on my way to Shreveport. I'm wondering if anyone has done any externship at these places, and would like to shed some light on these programs. My friend told me they are good programs with a lot of cancer to see, is he right? Thanks a lot.

I can only shed a little light, Knoxville is the cancer center with Carlson. Good luck and see as many places as you can!!
Maryland also does alot of cancer, if that is what you want to see.

Guyver00- not so much cancer in Memphis...unless your going to do ENT. Memphis' program is strong in trauma, dental alveolar and fair amount of orthognathics. Get a fair exposure to most other areas of OMS, but little to no cancer. In my opinion, a good program for someone looking to go into private practice OMS.
