Unlike pre-med, are these unnecessary / non-important? Does ERAS have "15 spaces" to fill up?

My mentor e-mailed me today saying that "residencys care more about board scores than anything else." So are boards, grades, research, class rank, and letters the most important?

I plan to volunteer at my school's free-clinic and tutor/mentor when I can because I want to. J/w how to think about extra activities as a first year.

Thanks in advance! -noobie incoming ms1

All the little bs things that helped for medical school will really not matter, like say volunteering at a clinic every now and then. What does matter is big things that you can weave into the narrative of your future career goals. For example if your future goal is to teach and you are heavily involved in your schools tutoring system.
