This was posted by lilycat in the financial aid forum, and I belive it applies to you too.

•••quote:•••Originally posted by lilycat: The financial aid "deadlines" really don't mean anything -- they are more guidelines than anything else, at least for entering students. Schools realize that students may not get accepted until the first week of classes, so they expect people to be submitting their financial aid paperwork throughout the spring and summer. While it is good to complete your FAFSA as soon as possible, most schools also have their own financial aid application that you must fill out before you're application is complete. You don't get those materials until you've been accepted, which obviously means that your financial aid application may not be complete until way after the established "deadline." ••••

Thanks Doctora. However, I know that Loyola has a separate deadline for people who haven't interviewed yet (the forms are due 1 month after the interview date) but for those who interviwed last october (like I did), they were due March 1st. I REALLY hope they don't stick to that....otherwise I'm screwed!!!

Sorry, another thing I forgot to mention is that I HAVE already been accepted to Loyola. That may be why I've gotten the forms from them....no?

That's funny about Loyola and deadlines....I missed the secondary's deadline and that's why I never applied! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Since you've already been accepted, it doesn't hurt to call and ask them. I think you should just send it in ASAP. I'm sure they accept people at different times so they should be processing FA forms all the time. Just get it in! :)

In the meantime, I have been awarded a $20,000/yr. scholarship from them that they said was partially need-based and one of two given. However, I do not think it is too late to apply for aid. I think you may get considered later than people who applied on time, but otherwise it is not a huge deal.

gel1, thats AWESOME about that scholarship. what a deal! just out of curiousity, do you have REALLY good gpa/mcat scores? or are you super involved in community work? i'm just curious as to how you got so much money, i thought medical schools didn't give out ANY money at all. congrats though!

The really important thing is that...it doesn't matter. Late or not, you fill it out and mail it immediately.
