What did FAST originally stand for? I remember reading a thread about this a long time ago here, but can't find anything relevant by searching. I've usually seen it as Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma, but also Focused Abdominal ultraSound for Trauma. Any thoughts or references?

Yes, this is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night.

I remember reading that the acronym first appeared in the literature as "Focused Abdominal Sonography for Trauma". It's now mostly referred to as the "Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma" given its expanding role.
