Hi All, wondering what everyone out there likes to snack on while they stare at their computers/notes/textbooks. Right now I have been on a sunflower seed kick (with shells), gives me something to do and the come in all sorts of tasty flavors. Only problem is I eat so many around finals that I usually end up with mouth ulcers! What are your favorites?

My study snacks are raw almonds (they taste sweeter), carrot sticks, apples, oranges/tangerines, and raw sunflower seeds. I do not like eating foods with preservatives, but I do allow myself to get chocolate (peanut M&Ms😳), or cookies (Chocolate Chewies are flourless, generally preservative free, and oh so delicious), once in a while, because sometimes, if I am too stressed out, I do not eat enough, and I end up slightly hypoglycemic... which is not very good if you are studying...

Chocolate chip cookies, gummy worms, lots and lots of apple juice and ice cream bars. So my concentration span is more like a roller coaster with bouts of hyper-activeness to fits of overwhelming lethargy.

I'm going to start replacing all this horribly good food with energy drinks and nuts. 🙁

I get pre-made snack packs at our grocery store in the produce section.

My favorite is carrot sticks, grapes, cheese cubes, and a few pretzels. The whole things is 170 calories and has protein so it is a great snack for me. Oh and I usually down Dr. Pepper with cherry and vanilla syrup in it while studying.

Mountain dew, M&Ms and chips... needless to say I put on a few pounds second year when I spent more time studying than sleeping. The post-exam binge drinking didn't help either.

Depends on if I feel like eating something sweet or salty, but in general...

Sweets: dried fruit (mangoes, strawberries, etc), fresh fruit, chocolate covered almonds, gummy snacks

Salts: goldfish crackers, salted peanuts/almonds

and I only drink water when studying. I'm not sure why, but if I drink anything else, I get distracted.

Water and Snickers.

Snickers is like a meal packed into one candy bar. It keeps me full.

While I'm not *yet* into my first year... I really enjoy Odwalla bars for studying. They're made with real fruits and nuts, and most of them taste pretty good (expecially the chocolate, banana nut, and chocolate peanut). I prefer them to candy bars because they have equivalent caloric content but a lot more nutrition.

Students cant afford those.

try some granola, not the bars, but the kind you buy in bags.

You have to shop around. I buy them in bulk for $1-1.50/bar... I don't think that's much more expensive than other less healthy options that aren't as filling.

call me a little wuss but i never really drank energy drinks before. however, in the past month i have started consuming large amounts of red bull, NOS, monster, rockstar, starbucks double shots..i'll try anything!!

currently i also enjoy mcdonalds mocha frappes.

well i didn't actually name any food in this post but oh well.

for undergrad it was blowpops, swedish fish, and baked lays and diet dr. pepper. also when i'm really anxious I get a huge pack of sugar free gum (the kind with 3 or 4 smaller packs in it) and chew each piece for about 5 minutes then spit it out then get a new one until I finish the pack. i definitely have an anxiety-related gum problem.

probably gonna have to start being healthy this fall since i'm gonna be spending so much more time studying.

Its gonna sound weird, but i promise you its delicious so dont judge and just give it a try. You take peanut butter filled pretzels and you dip them in hummus. Soooo bomb. The sabra hummus is best I think, you can get giant ones from Costco, along with giant barrels of peanut butter pretzlels. Delicious.

speaking of peanut butter....take half a bagel, toast it, spread peanut butter on, top with slices of banana...maybe a little drizzle of honey...yummy.

Elvis would approve.

I like popcorn. I have a popcorn maker so I can make it without butter. Just use olive oil spray and random seasonings and salt. Much healthier. Plus a pound of popcorn kernels (which is a lot of f-ing popcorn) is 1.60$.

Unfortunately to me, eating popcorn brings out the urge to watch a movie or 2 while doing so.

This thread is making me hungry! lol. I got some really good ideas from this thread so far. 😀

I drink hot sauce when I'm doing my hard core studying. The rest of the time I stick with generic cheez-its. The dollar general brand is pretty good.

hot sauce? woman you'll end up burning your esophagus and stomach!

Yeah, I know. Which is why I only do that the night before exams. I figure once every month or so probably won't kill me. I just really like spicy food.

toast + nutella + strawberries= delicious!

I thought I was the only one!

Gummy Bears are my current favorite, but they must be Haribo brand.

String cheese, crackers, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, dry roasted almonds. Generally drink water - I actually think I drink more water when I'm sitting still studying then when I'm up walking around, go figure 😉

Almonds. Cookies (lots of them). Tangerines and chips. And lots of water.

raisins, peanuts, fruit, yogurt covered pretzels, fruit snacks, cheese cubes.

but I try to keep snacking to a minimum and mostly just drink water while studying (or coffee as needed). because otherwise it's a really good way to pack on the pounds. 😡

Hummus and veggies (celery, carrots, red and yellow sweet peppers)
Cashew, roasted almond, cranberry mix
Wheat thins with peanut butter OR hummus
Grapes
COFFEE!
Green tea

Chex mix - bold party blend

Coffee, diet dr pepper, twizzlers, and almonds - I know, random but it gets the job done.

Wasabi/Soy Sauce almonds from Blue Diamond
Pita bread + Hummus

MILK FTW. If you haven't, try it. My concentration levels boost from 300 to over 9000. I usually add a teaspoon and half of sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla extract...cause this pasteurized milk in the States tastes like crap.

Every so often ill have a glass of red wine with almonds/blueberries/strawberries. Awesome combo. I tend to overdose on almonds but it helps immensely with memory so not too bad of an idea. For those that dont have red wine, id give it a shot a couple times a week (1 glass a day though).

nutella nutella nutella nutella nutella EVERYWHERE

coffee, grind it, don't settle for anything less...

granola bars... bananas.... i try to stick to one snack pre-lunch, and one post-lunch...

frozen fruit smoothie (with OJ/milk for liquid, in magic bullet) after workout, but while cooking supper.

depending on the time of the day... my favorites are:

afternoon: coffee with some kind of pastry, and a camel light

evening: usually finger fruits (grapes or berries) with some wine (usually just two buck chuck)

late night: some brandy and some godiva chocolate (I stock up whenever there is a sale)

I am surprised I can still fit into my skinny jeans.

Red Bull and twizzlers. Snickers if it's going to be a long night. Also, can't resist the Oreos if they are already open 😳
