Feel so discouraged with a somewhat low overall gpa and red flags... How concerned should I be?

Sorry if I seem pessimistic or anything, but want to know what are some ways I could improve my application for DO school for next year. I have a 3.35 overall gpa, 3.75 science gpa, assume a 28 mcat, and a previous academic probation in Jan 2010 and dismissal from a 4 year Physician assistant BS program after the 1st year due to poor grades.

But since then I have been doing a lot of extracurriculars, such as working as an RN in the community, shadowing, miscellaneous volunteering, etc.

I just feel discouraged, that admissions will not select me for an interview or even admissions due to my low overall ... I mean I see everywhere the overall gpa is a 3.55. And that red flag.. I just don't know. Should I be concerned or what.. for DO admission..?

I will apply to every school within my range.

If you're worried about your low overall GPA, do some retakes this semester to improve your GPA if possible. I think what adcoms will be most concerned with is you being dismissed from a PA program. From their prospective, if you can't handle the rigor of PA school, how would medical school be different for a more advanced degree? Do you have any circumstances that led you to not do well? If so, explain it in your personal statement. If you apply to the newer DO schools, I think you could get accepted if you do a good job with explaining that dismissal away, but if you can't, it might be an uphill battle.

Well I was immature, had poor work ethics, was my first year out of high school

So wait, did you get dismissed from the PA program and then go back for a BSN? I was a little confused. And what's your actual sGPA and cGPA with everything, all courses included. That might be enough time away from the dismissal and If you explain that you were fresh out of high school, it shouldn't be a real issue if you've done well since then.

After my PA dismissal I tried to do computer science, I didn't do good in 2 comp sci courses and then I decided to go back into the health care field as a RN.
I was dismissed out of PA really because I had a low science gpa, I had a C- in Molecular bio (3 credits), C and C+ in two organic chem courses (4 credits w/ lab). I retook those courses and Got A's in all.
My actual science gpa is a 3.75 like I just said and a overall of a 3.35.
My most recent degree gpa is as 3.5. The last 3 semesters were all 3.8 gpas.

Another thing its hard to raise my overall gpa. I have a 3.32 from 174 credits... and I did calculations, it would take 400 credits to get to a 3.6 overall gpa. which is ridiculous. The best I could do for now is a 3.4 with about 24 credits of As.

Well if you're looking to improve your app, that's one area where I see you COULD improve, a 3.75 science is more than adequate. Otherwise, if you've have good ECs, clinical experience, sell yourself, and show a motivation to practice osteopathic medicine and have knowledge of the profession, I think you'll get in somewhere. Especially apply to the newer schools and schools where you'd be a good fit for their programs. DO schools really do look at your whole application and how you'd fit with their school. Prepare your application well and good luck.

Not teasing or anything here when I say, therapy may seriously help. By the way/rate that you post, you seem truly troubled by this stuff. Best to get that kind of anxiety under control before you start this whole process of med school. Everyone needs help from time to time, nothing wrong with it.

Such self-esteem issues would be self-defeating in med school. These are not characteristics I want in my students.
