hello everyone,
i heard that female pre-meds that will apply to med school have better chances of getting into/accepted to the medical schools just because of their gender. i've heard this statement being made a lot.

what do you think?

I see that most schools have 50/50 so its reflective of the general population. If u want to see huge differences in gender, check out pharmacy schools. I saw some that had 70% women 30% men.

I don't know, but I would hope they put everyone on a level playing field.

ive noticed alot more woman applying than men at my school, our AMSA chapter has about 15 guys and 40 women, some medicine seminar has 3 guys 17 women, does that mean guys will have an advantage as being guys soon? 😀

Nope. More women applied to medical school than men in 2003. Women get no edge.

What!?!? They let women be doctors now?

only every once in a while 😉

silver_eyes, being female will not help or hurt you on admissions. Your GPA, MCAT, and ECs along with how well you interview are what make a difference.

😍 I dunno, I prefer the highest sausage ratio I can get! 😍

I think we passed the critical point now, where males get an edge over females. 👍
