Fiction Writing II Counts For English?

Hi all,

My university will soon allow us to pre-register for classes next semester. I know many medical schools require English/some kind of college level writing course. AMCAS Course Classification Guide states that Creative Writing falls under ENGL courses, but I want to make sure I wouldn't be making a mistake taking this course instead of a standard English course (I would certainly enjoy this course more) to fulfill the pre-requisites.

Thank you for the reply! While you mention it's acceptable, would medical schools prefer a more traditional writing-based course? Or is there no difference in their eyes.
