I am starting Med School this fall and I'm filling out the financial aid forms. They are asking me whether I will do a specialty in Family Med, Gen Internal Med, or Gen Pediatrics...to be considered for Health Profession Student Loan funds. What would happen if I said Family Med today and changed my mind later? Also, is there any advice that can help me get the best aid package?

look at the fin(er) print with family care/primary care loans.

1. some you are only eligible for at 3rd and 4th year levels.
2. if you "change your mind" the interest rate on some go up to 18%...just like a credit card.

If you are unsure, borrow through the Stafford program...rates are low now, and you won;t be sorry later.

I am dealing with the same thing...interested in PM&R, which is not covered by PCL...no sense in shooting yourself in the foot.
