Hey all, I have a few questions about the financial aspect of paying for med school. I will be attending DMU next year. Here is the situation...... I am married and we just found out that we have a little one on the way!!!! Totally cool! However, our plan was that my wife would work while I was in school to help us be able to live in some place that isn't the ghetto ( don't know if there is one though in Des Moines 🙂 . Well now that we have a baby on the way she will be staying home and taking care of it. What would you all recommend doing for paying for med school through loans and such while maintaing a somewhat decent quality of life. The budget that DMU gives puts ~ 14K for living expenses per year. This is just not going to do it with a decent apartment and all the expenses that come with a baby. I believe that that budget is based on accepted all the loans you can get from applying via FAFSA which caps out at ~ $190,000 over the four years ( ~ $45k per year). I'm not real excited about taking out high interest loans on top of these but that is an option. For those in a similiar situation what have you done or plan to do???????
Thanx 😀
