Finish the sentence. I want to be a dentist because...

No sir, I have no experience, but I'm a big fan of money. I like it, I use it, I have a little. I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator. I'd like to put more in that jar. That's where you come in.

 Just kidding.

HAHAHA, Man that was so funny.

That's exactly how Ron Burgundy would answer the question.

I guess it's getting to be about that time where people become more cutthroat...

because teeth turn me on

well.. its not really a cutthroat, but similar.

i have many reasons why i want to be a dentist, but as a healthcare provider, it SHOULD start something like "i like to serve people with what i am able to do." it really is. unless, you really like the money then there's no choice but to lie..if this is the case, i don't think you'll enjoy being a dentist.

i would finish the sentence, but what's the fun in that? 😉

Because I couldn't get into med school! No, Just kidding! 😉

because it was necessary to get me into ortho.

one of my friends used this line. well maybe not those exact words. she said she "really liked teeth" and she got into dental school. being very beautiful probably helped her too though. also the fact that she had superb stats may have helped as well. 😛

i get paid to inflict pain on others.. j/k

😀 😀 😀
$1000? I'd say you got a fairly good deal for private practice.

people said they become rich (200k-300k a year) when they get out of dental school, isnt it u have to gain customers if u have ur own practice? that takes like several of years for ur salary to be 200k-300k...? ANd does Dentist job is stress while Pharmacy is free stress? Also does Dentist job is demanding? i dont think it is...

I think you may have read my post on a different thread about dentists I know that make between 200K-300K per year. I really hope I didn't give anyone the wrong idea, those dentists that I was referring have both been practicing for a long time. They are both general dentists, and they have extremely well organized practices. They are both really fast too, I watched one do 3 dental implant and a sinus augmentation on a patient in about 45min. I've also seen him do a 20min root canal, that with just one assistant. My point is that yeah there is the potential to make lots of money, but it's going to take a lot of skill and business sense.
And like other people have said, if all you want to do is make tons of cash then yeah there are many other ways to do this, without all the stress. I personally look forward to a career that will challenge me daily. Some of the dentists I have spoken to have said that they thought about specializing, but then decided that they wanted to be able to do a wide variety on procedures, and not be caught in the monotony of doing the same thing over and over everyday. Pharmacy especially in the retail setting is just that way, same thing day in day out until you retire.

This was the first question in my first interview... (of course it was! Why not start with the most difficult question first! yeah! great!). Anyway, after I proceeded to regurgitate my rehearsed monologue, one of the interviewers replied (giggling mildly)..."Ok, why don't we go with something a little easier....so, you're taking physics right now?" I couldn't help but laugh. Actually, we were all laughing....hopefully they weren't laughing their way to the "she's gotta go" pile!
