I don't know if this is an obvious question or not, but..

Do most medical schools have a specified list of classes you have to complete at your undergrad institution before starting in the Fall? (Besides the usual list of English, Gchem/Ochem, Bio, etc). I know different schools have slightly different requirements in terms of how many classes/units you must take of each category, and I know you don't have to necessarily have all the requirements complete to apply. But I'm assuming you do before you matriculate into their medical school! Are we responsible for calling in to have them check your individual transcript to tell you if you're missing anything?

I ask this because I've had friends who had to take certain specific courses (ex. an anatomy class during summer school) before starting Pharm/Optometry/etc school to fulfill requirements unique to that school.

Thanks a bunch! 😳

Schools publish their list of that year's prerequisites in the MSAR (Medical School Application Requirements) book. Schools will also look over your transcript when you interview and give you a list of deficiencies. (but they may not offer you one if haven't taken all the classes!) Interviewers often ask when you plan to make up these classes. You can be denied matriculation if you don't make them up.
