I took my first MCAT in 2016 with 2-3 months of studying and got 500: 123/124/125/128. I decided to pursue getting a MSc before applying again (I am finishing up year 1/2 of my masters). I took the 6/29 MCAT and after TONS of studying and doing over 12 FLs, I got a 509: 126/126/129/128. I averaged at 514 for the AAMC FLs. CARS was never my strength, but I consistently got above a 128 on C/P, thus I am very upset with the score. I am wondering if I should retake the MCAT once more this September, or is this an okay score?
A little bit more information about me. I am a Canadian resident, with a cGPA and sGPA >3.8, MSc currently in progress, and lots of ECs. I know that I am a bit late in the cycle to apply to the States, and I am aware that my MCAT score isn't stellar for Canadian schools. I do not mind applying early on in the next cycle to American schools. However, I am afraid that if I retake a 509, my biology score or overall score might drop, and I believe that American schools look down upon that? I really don't know what to do at this point. Does it make sense to retake in September? Would that be risky? My preference is to attend a Canadian school (which is why I want to retake, or feel like I have to), however, I do not want to hurt my chances of potentially getting into the States.
Thank you in advance for all your help!
