Florida Medical Licence requirement/NICA??

Anyone know that if a FL licensed MD (active or inactive) is required to pay a minimum of $250/year for FL-birth related neurological Injury compensation (legal and medical fees)????

Any other states have such required fees for legal issues?

That's wild. Never heard of that before. I'd guess it's in place to offset the high insurance for obstetricians to keep them in the state. They must figure doc's can afford an extra $250 a year. Also probably helps keep those who are not practicing in FL from keeping a license there.
