Hey guys, I'm a medical student undecided between FM and peds. Can anyone please shed some light on what the average hours workload is for family vs peds in residency? I'm currently leaning toward practicing outpatient as an attending... but for the time being and for family planning purposes, I'm hoping to choose a residency that has more "humane" work hours so that it could better accommodate me starting a family. Thanks!

I wouldn't let residency work hours influence choosing peds vs. FM. For one thing, the residency workload will be more program-specific than specialty-specific. For another (and more importantly), it's only three years of your life. Do you want to see adults or not? Pick the field you prefer.
