Hi everyone,

I'm flying in to San Jose airport to visit TUCOM-MI. Can anyone give me an idea of how long it will take for me to drive from SJ to TUCOM? Also which route is the least congested? I can see several ways of getting there on the freeway map.

Thanks

This is the way that I'd go. It may seem a bit more roundabout, but it the 101 and 880 are both prone to traffic. You can fly on the 280 and then the 101N when you're north of SF is going against traffic.

101S --> 880S --> 280N

Take 280N all the way to San Francisco, where it ends. You'll end up on 19th Ave. and will have to drive through the city on it. Take it towards the Golden Gate Bridge, which will lead you onto 101N. From here, take the 37E, which will lead you to Mare Island. After this point, I'm not sure since I'm too familiar with Mare Island.

If you want a simpler route, you can just take 880N to the 80E to the 37. It might have more traffic, but you also have fewer chances to get lost.

I would give yourself a good amount of time to get there -- at least 2 hours. The Oakland airport would have been a better place to fly into though...

Hope this helps!

Mr. Jess definitely has the right idea; I automatically thought "go east bay!", but going up the Golden Gate's definitely makes more sense now that I've put some thought into it, especially on a weekday.

As far as going through the city on 19th ave off of 280N... just follow the signs for highway 1, it'll take you the whole way. And allocating about 2 hours for the trip seems about right.
