have taken the NBDE part I, did you use the JACK RUDMAN's National Dental Board books?

If you did, how are they? Are they worth the money and the time? How are they compared to the old release ASDA exams? Thanks for your inputs.

Andy - Some of my classmates and I bought this book for our Oral Histo class b/c our professor used to repeat many questions straight out of Rudman's book. Well, after I bought the released exams to study for the boards, turns out that most of the questions in Rudman's book are word-for-word repeats from the released exams. There were very few questions (10%, if that) that were significantly different. Four of my friends and I all owned this book and none of us ever got around to really using it to study for the boards b/c the questions were so similar to the released exams. I would save your money and just buy the released exams instead. There is a little review section in the back of the Rudman book, but I didn't end up using that either.

For part II, I'm not even going to bother with Rudman's book and just buy the ASDA released exams instead.

A few words about the part I board exam...I scored greater than the 99th percentile overall. From my experience, I can tell you that the best preparation for the board exam is studying hard when you take the courses. It really isn't a reasonable expectation to relearn, or rather learn all of the material in a matter of a few months or less. I reviewed the dental decks, I took the released exams countless times, and I used USMLE review books as well. Basically, I think I overstudied. Definitely spend some time reviewing the materials, but if you did well to begin with, you should have no problem on the board exam.

Griffin: Thanks for your input! That's exactly what I thought the Rudman's books would be, just a replica of the ASDA exams. Now, I can save money and just get the ASDA exams.
