For those who had trouble with VR, how did you prepare?

Just wanted some advice. I know real improvement will only come from long-term practice, so I've decided to not take (for the sceond time)the August one and wait for April. I got an 8 and 10 on AAMC test III and IV and ended up with a 6 on the April '01 test. So, I really don't know what to do. Any advice?
