OMS I here taking a break from exam study to post something that may help settle some nerves.

One of my biggest worries when applying to med school was, "how will my community college credits look to adcoms?" As a non-trad, social science major, I went back to school to fulfill all of the science prereqs for med school and I took 90% of them at community colleges. My undergrad GPA was very low <3.00 (another big worry of mine). I did manage an A in every course after undergrad... in the end getting my overall GPA up to 3.25.

Also, I applied late. I wasn't complete until the end of November last year and I managed to land 5 interviews and 3 acceptances (I didn't go to the other 2 interviews so who knows). I had an unsuccessful MD application cycle the year before and I really wanted to make sure my DO app was solid with well written essays and LORs from trusted mentors.

Anyway, I just remember being very nervous around this time last year... thinking I wasn't going to get in and looking at getting a second bachelors degree or looking into SMPs.

I know it's only one example but it can be done. You can still become a doctor even if you took all of your science prereqs at CC. You can still get interviews even if you're applying late.

FYI: 29 MCAT for those interested (only took it once thank god)

Awesome, thanks for sharing your experience. Pragmatic choices on where to take pre-reqs as non-trads shouldn't be viewed as a weakness, or a red-flag.

Where are you at school and where did you apply?

As a Cali resident I applied nationwide. I don't know if it's been posted on SDN recently but last year I found state by state matriculant data for each school. That was a great reference and kept me from applying to schools where it looked as though I would have close to zero chance as a CA resident.

I was accepted to WesternU - Pomona, WVSOM, and ACOM. Also had II at AZCOM and Touro CA which I didn't attend after getting the acceptance I wanted.

Wow. This is inspirational.
How about if you don't get A's though? I might end up having few B's from my CC.

Hey, I am pretty similar to you, check out my post :http://forums.studentdoctor.net/thr...riculars-promising-mcat-smp-or-ugrad.1225207/

Could you find that list? Would send many positive vibes in your direction.

Thank you for this post! Given a novemeber completion date, when did you receive the majority of your II's and acceptances?

I received the majority of my II's from mid December through mid January. I received one more invite in mid April.
