Has anyone asked foreign teachers to do this despite not having perfect English writing skills? I am sending extra LORs to a school that I am waitlisted. I have very few classes so my choices for LORs is limited. I wanted to ask her but am worried about the letter having errors.

Any thoughts? 😳

I'm in a similar boat. I'm looking for one of my "high power" LORs to come from my boss here in China. His english is good, but even many native speakers can't write a good LOR. Anyone with experience on this issue?

Unless the person writing the letter is a well-known scientist, I don't think it'll help

One of my professors gave my a copy of the LOR he'd written for me, and it had multiple errors, including one misspelling of my name ( 😱 )!

I survived... I think it's a-ok.

He is a well-known scientist. I guess I'm curious as to whether an LOR from him saying "Yes, so and so worked with me. He work hard." and him actually writting a good LOR makes much of a difference.

I think a good LOR from a well-known scientist may make a difference. If he's not well-known or his letter is generic, then the letter won't help.
