foreigners can get into dental school...??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
wha?? of course there are non-u.s citizens going to dental school in the states..especially canadians. happens all the time. state schools are tough to crack but private institutions might look kindly upon your international status..not sure how it works if you're coming from bangladesh or whatever

Yes, foreigners do go to US dental schools, and not just Canadians. Your chances of acceptance are higher at a private school versus a plubic, and hence government regulated/financed one.

I'm in the same situation as you and I have some words of wisdom for you. DO NOT APPLY TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS! Your only chance of getting accepted is through private schools. Your chances of getting into a public school is less then 5%, so save your money and don't bother applying.

Apply to BU or NYU. The dentist I worked for went to NYU right after he graduated from a college in Taiwan.

Even the private schools would look at your foreign bachelor degree, you still need to complete all the pre-requesite in US accredit schools. Any bio, physics, g chem, or o chem taken in foreign country would not be recognized.

Not true. I had some of the pre-rep done in a foreign country, and I got accepted by many dental schools last year. You just need to talk to them, and they will tell you what they will take and what they won't. They were very easy on that part. Also, the dentist I worked for went to NYU right after his college in Taiwan, and he did not have any of the pre-rep in a US accredit school.
