Hi,

If one does foundation training in UK, does one still have to do the USMLEs to work in the US?

You have to have Step 1 and 2 completed to get a residency spot. Step 3 comes about a year or so into your residency.

So even if you are a fully registered doctor in the UK, you still have to do a residency in the US from scratch??

You can be a consultant in the UK; however, once you move to the states, you need to do your residency again--including step 1, 2, and 3.

Yes, as femtochem says. Furthermore if you are wanting to get a H1b visa, you also need to have step 3.
