Frieda # of first year accurate?

Hello~ I am a match applicant this year. I was browsing through the Frieda database. Does "number of first year positions" mean the number of first years entering the program next June? Or does it mean the current first years who are already in the program?

Also, how accurate is this data?

It's current PGY-1's

It's reasonably accurate = my administrator fills it out and I check it quickly. We often have a few off cycle residents which don't fit well in lists like this, and I don't worry about them for this type of issue.
