Are there any Med schools that are known for being friendly learning environments, as well as those known for cuthroat competitiveness? Being from Texas, I've been pretty much spoiled with friendly learning environments, and I have heard stories about how schools on the East Coast can have ruthless classmates. Is it really true about schools, including Ivy Leagues where everything is completely cutthroat? I'm still trying to decide if I want to stay here in Texas or apply outside as well, especially in the East, but I want a school where I don't have to worry about my classmates stabbing me in the back at every turn.

My school has earned a reputation as being a very friendly environment. I am at U. of Cincinnati. The mood is extremely non-competitive. To give you an example, whenever a student makes a study guide to use for a test, they email it to the entire class! Each test we usually get several people's study guides sent out to us. Now how competetive is that? 🙂

I have to say Creighton is simply awesome! They have the warmest atmosphere out of all the schools I visited! I was very impressed on my interview day that I decided to choose them over Tufts in the end. Can't wait to start in August!

That sounds nice Mango, especially since I'm thinking about applying there. 😀

Mango,
It's nice to hear you say so many nice things about UC, since I'm starting there next month. 🙂 I hope I like it as much as you seem to.
