Hi everyone! Current MS2/MS3 here. I wanted to let you all know about a new master's program in narrative medicine at USC beginning this year, 2020-2021. The first narrative medicine program was founded at Columbia University and this will be the second. To learn more about narrative medicine, view the link below to a Ted Talk by Dr. Rita Charon, founder of the field and the first narrative medicine program at Columbia University.
This is an excellent gap year opportunity for any pre-health or medical student, or any individual interested in the ethical implications of narrative and storytelling for individual and community wellness and the clinical encounter between doctor and patient. I think it's also perfect timing for any of us who might be questioning the circumstances of our medical education this upcoming year and might be looking for alternative equally fulfilling opportunities.
The program will be delivered online during the fall semester. Applications are still being accepted for the upcoming academic year.
I hope you are all staying well.
