Furnished room to rent in 6-bedroom 100-year-old Hyde Park greystone house, available in February. Exact date flexible. Room is about 11 x 11 and has bed, dresser and desk. Comcast cable is in room (also wifi). Internet and utilities (heat and electricity) are included in rent. Short-term is welcome.
LOCATION: The house is about 3 blocks away from Lake Michigan and about a mile away from the University of Chicago Hospitals and the University's main campus. It's also very convenient to Jackson Park Hospital. It's a block away from the Metra electric train to downtown and a block away from several buses that go downtown or to the University campus. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to get downtown by bus or train. To campus or the hospital, it's about a 20-minute walk or 7-minute bus ride. The house is also near the bike path, which runs along Lake Michigan for nearly the entire length of the city. (There are no cars on the bike path). It takes about half an hour to get downtown by bike. Several grocery options are within walking distance.
ABOUT THE HOUSE: Four rooms are rented on the second floor of the house. They share a bathroom. The first floor is shared space and includes a living room, dining room, and kitchen. The basement has a washer and dryer which are also available. There is a deck and a backyard as well. Parking is tight at certain times, but generally doable. There are two schools across the street, so on weekends parking is easy.
The owners of the house occupy the third floor, and there are two cats on the premises.
