I've been going back and forth between PA/ MD for some time. Mostly due to my age. I'll be a "very young" 46 when I apply to Med School and if I'm accepted on time 50 when I graduate. I'm now leaning very heavily toward MD. I live in Ga so I'm researching Ga's schools.
Is there anyone here who has done that? Financially it would be better. MCG accepts 30-40 applications a year from people over 40. Does anyone know about Mercer or Emory?
Thanks for your help.

I'm a non-trad starting medschool next year (either UVa of MCG), but I'm only 26 - That's a far cry from 46. I don't mean to be discouraging, but if I were you I'd go PA. You've got to consider to the amount of return on investment for the years of hard work your gonna put in. Sure you'd graduate from medschool at 50, but then 3-5 years of residency. At this point you'll have much debt to pay off - even if you go to MCG. Given your position I don't think it'd be wise to try for the long haul. BUT if you are passionate about being a MD - then go for it! However, if I were in your shoes, I'd definently go PA. Work hard at those pre-reqs and get into MCG's PA program (= much cheaper than out-of-state and private schools). You'll be practicing before the age of 50 and have very little debt! Good Luck with whatever you decide. 🙂
